Life Becomes Flesh
Stardust falls on sleeping fawn.
Moonlight crowns the night sky in splendor and selenite crystal.
The earth hums with insect songs and mating calls.
Bluestem dances with the direction of the blowing wind.
In hidden depths, the predator feasts on her kill. Her teeth pierce raw flesh, crushing windpipe and cartilage.
It’s natural instinct to survive, to run— is broken by overwhelm and blood-stained fangs.
Eyelids become heavy. Too weak to come together and meet in death.
Grass, stars, and the silhouette of trees swirl into all encompassing black.
Primal growls are the sounds calling him home. The body surrenders to its affliction and life becomes flesh.
